FSUPV Team continues its rise: 12th worldwide, 3rd European and only Spanish combustion in the top 200 international
FSUPV Team, the Formula Student team – a course aimed at students from universities around the world that promotes engineering excellence and where students design, build and develop a single-seat – from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), continues its rise unstoppable.
Not in vain, according to the recent update of the world ranking, it already occupies the 12th position, being the third best European team and the only Spanish combustion within the 200 most outstanding internationally.
«These are data that we thought impossible to achieve 5 years ago, when the team started designing their first car,» says Víctor Forner, coordinator of FSUPV, «but with each new prototype, we were discovering that we were capable, year after year, of putting on track, a car getting better and better. »
In 2019, for the 4 most important tests in Europe
Already the idea is not to stop. Not in vain, this year, FSUPV intends to participate in the four most important competitions in Europe: East, Austria, Germany and Spain. In each of them, «the objective will be to continue advancing, demonstrating that a young team, but well coordinated, is capable of conquering the highest positions».
This would not have been possible «without the support received from the UPV, which we want to thank, as well as sponsors, family and friends,» he adds.
Formula Student: 120 teams from around the world competing in 8 events with their single-seaters
Formula Student is a competition that puts to the test the capacity of the teams outside the track (attending to the organization, viability plan and design of the prototype) and inside it (measuring fundamental aspects for a single-seater). Currently, more than 120 teams from around the world participate.
In total, Formula Student is composed of eight tests, three of them static (where the car does not go to the track) and the other five, dynamic, that is, in circuit. Each one contributes points to the general classification in function of the evaluation of the judges or the times obtained on the asphalt.
3rd in Michigan, 10th in Hockenheim Ring and 5th in Montmeló
This season, the team will compete with the FSUPV-06, the sixth car in the history of the team, which aims to improve historical results, such as the extraordinary third place achieved in the pioneer and most prestigious circuit of the competition: Michigan.
In addition, during the past summer, the team was tenth in Hockenheim Ring (Germany) and fifth in Montmeló, being crowned in both competitions as the best Spanish team.
