Thursday 9th, the Chair Istobal presents its programme of activities for this year, with 5 scholarships of collaboration and a contest of design
On Thursday, February 9th, the Istobal Chair presents its programme of activities for this year. It will be at 12.30 pm at the Hall of the School of Design Engineering.
Activities to held the Chair during this year will be presented during the ceremony and, specifically, will be announced details of the concession of 3 scholarships of collaboration to Degree’s Thesis and 2 scholarships of collaboration for Master’s Thesis, as well as two calls of design competitions.
The Director of entrepreneurship and employment of the UPV, José Millet Roig, will chair this event, also featuring the ETSID Director, Enrique Ballester, and Professor and director of the Chair, Julián Salt. By ISTOBAL, will speak in the presentation Lorenzo Martin, Counselor of the group, Marisol Garcia, Chief of I+D, and Vicente Egea, responsible of management of projects of I+D.
ISTOBAL and UPV have created the ISTOBAL Chair to contribute to the training of future professionals, fostering research in the engineering sector and promoting I+D projects. The ISTOBAL Chair committed to talent and innovation that is generated in the UPV, and so starts this year scholarships of collaboration, design competitions, announcements of awards, training courses and seminars for technical disclosure, all aimed to the University community.
Istobal is the Valencian leader in washing for automotive solutions. Founded in 1950 by Ismael Tomás Alacreu, exports their products of washing from 1970 to more than 75 countries, and works with a wide network of distributors for all the world.
Currently, has with seven subsidiaries and two plants of Assembly in Europe, in addition to other two subsidiaries and plants of Assembly in United States and Brazil. In fact, the company founded by Thomas is the first company in the sector for washing vehicles in Spain and the second at the European level. 80% of its production corresponds to international sales.
Relationship with the University level
In November 2016, the rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia Francisco Mora, and the CEO of Istobal, Yolanda Thomas, signed a collaboration agreement for the creation of this Chair. With this signature, Istobal consolidated its relationship with the University field, to which hasbeen previously linked on numerous occasions.
The ISTOBAL Chair is attached to the School of Design Engineering and will be headed by the Professor of the systems engineering and automatic Department, Julián Salt Llobregat.
For example, its most recent initiatives of support to the sector, include the sponsorship of team Hyperloop UPV which got the award for «Best design» and the «best Propulsion system» in the contest organized by the company SpaceX’s Elon Musk in 2016.
