At the time of opting for the work of Penyas, the jury has taken into account the author's ability to "rescue, from a family history, the voice of a
silenced generation" and "the innovation and freshness of the in graphic scene, in addition to the ability to integrate resources of the comic and other
media.
The comic, in the words of the award-winning, "speaks of the elderly, of my grandmothers, but also of many other things, such as historical memory,
repression, the feminist view of an era ...".
"In fact," he continues, "I chose my grandmothers because they had not done anything supposedly remarkable in their lives: they have been mothers,
housewives, wives ... and have dedicated themselves to taking care of others, like most of the women of their generation who almost did not have access
to studies or work outside the home, there are few female intellectual referents of that generation because they either went into exile or died or
something happened in their lives. "
