Two of the massive open online courses (MOOCs) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Basic Spanish 1 and Excel: Fundamentals and Tools, are among the 100 with the most enrollments of all time to world level.

From another perspective, it is also worth noting that Excel: Foundations and Tools is one of the only 3 MOOCs in Spanish that appear in the ranking, along with one from the Autonomous University of Mexico and the aforementioned from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
More than 670,000 registered between the two
Basic Spanish 1, which is ranked 48 in the classification published by Class Ranking, is a 7-week course that allows the user to prepare to access level A1 of Spanish.one of the teachers who teaches this course is Ana Gimeno, ETSID teacher.
After completing it, students will be able to navigate the language in basic aspects such as introducing themselves, asking basic questions and having a short conversation. The course, which is taught through the edX platform, currently has almost 390,000 enrolled.
For its part, Excel: Excel: Fundamentals and Tools, which now exceeds 284,000 registrations and is ranked 84th worldwide, is an introductory 8-week course for MS-Office spreadsheets. Project Management and Android: Introduction to Programming, other successful MOOC UPV
In addition to those mentioned, there are several MOOCs of the UPV of unquestionable success. For example, Introduction to Project Management has just exceeded 100,000 registered, and Android:: Introduction to Programming, has more than 90,000.
According to the 2019 Class Central annual report, 110 million students have completed at least one MOOC out of the more than 13,500 offered by more than 900 universities in the world.
5th in the world in MOOC and with its own platform
The UPV, which in May 2018 became the first Spanish-speaking university to exceed one million enrolled in MOOC en edX, the platform promoted by Harvard University and MIT, is an unquestionable reference in the field of teaching on-line. Not surprisingly, at edX, the UPV is the fifth institution in the world in number of masive open online courses en MOOC en edX second only to, apart from the two creators, Microsoft and Delft University.
The institution headed by Francisco Mora launched its first MOOC in January 2013 through its own platform based on Google technology. Subsequently, it went through MiriadaX – promoted by Telefónica – and, in addition to being a member of edX, it has had UPV[X], its own platform based on OpenedX, since 2014.
