SCIENCE AND NATURAL RESOURCES ECONOMICS: INNOVATION PROCESSES, DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF PRODUCTS AND INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES.

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

The group of work focuses its activity in two areas differentiated: on the one hand, in the development of methodologies for the design, address e implementation of projects of base technology focused on their reduction and management of them impacts environmental associated to a product, process or project. The lines of research of the Group include models and methodological proposals in the field of design projects eco-friendly, integrated management of the processes for product development, as well as the development of predictive models in the field of technology and in the management of the project. As part of science and innovation, the team focuses on three aspects: 1. The one whose main objective is the analysis of the generation and dissemination of knowledge, for example by analysing the evolution of scientific disciplines and their dissemination in applied contexts, the effect of knowledge on innovative performance flows, and the role of universities as centers of production of scientific knowledge. 2. The Organization of the processes of research and innovation, including the definition of corporate innovation strategies, the dynamics of location of innovative activity, and management innovation. 3. Analysis, definition and evaluation of public policies related to science and innovation, both those relating to its promotion, social orientation and its control.

Assessment and multi-criteria decision-making

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

Research assessment and multi-criteria decision-making Group has as objective the study of the complex processes of decision making and valuations of tangible and intangible assets, that arise in the area of the management of projects, innovation, sustainable development, sustainability and environmental assessment, through the application of techniques based on multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA – Multiple criteria decision analysis) such as AHP, ANP, TOPSIS, PROMETHEE, and others. Complex decision-making processes are characterized by the participation of different actors and stakeholders that influence each other, by the large number of criteria to be considered, by the subjectivity inherent in the process, the need to integrate qualitative and quantitative preference scales, and the imprecision of the human being responsible for decisions.

Robotics and industrial automation

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

The group performs its activities in the areas of the control and the Robotics face to the implementation of solutions industrial of automation advanced. In the field of control, research expands with development of telemetering, teleoperation and remote systems, as well as the integration of systems of sensors such as laser scanners, artificial vision and infrared cameras, sensors, ultrasound, etc. In particular, artificial vision systems are used both in the control loop and control quality by using computer vision. In the field of mobile robotics research in vehicle platforms and driving assisted with varying degrees of autonomy. Automatic Generation of trajectories, detection and avoidance of collisions, visual servoing, SLAM, etc. These are some of the disciplines that apply to control problems as well as Robotics and guidance of vehicles.

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

Research in engineering of the processes of manufacture group works on different lines, which include the smelting processes, made of plastic, machining and forming with plastics and composites. A great activity in the CAD/CAM/CAE technologies involved in each of the manufacturing processes. Also working on new applications, materials and processes of plastics and composites, as well as its numerical simulation.

Technologies graphics & Lab Design

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

Graphic technologies & Design Lab Group orients its activities to the research and development of new graphical interfaces that improve the capabilities of human beings and of new technologies related to the processes of design and reproduction of graphic products and vision techniques by computer for industrial applications. LabDesign lines are oriented to the automatic interpretation of drawings and sketches of engineering, the development of cognitive skills in the field of the spatial vision, development of tools based on modeling by means of sketches for conceptual design, methodologies and tools for the management of knowledge in the design process, and technical vision by computer for industrial applications. Their lines on technologies graphic are directed to it improves of their processes of treatment and reproduction of the digital image and to the study of the capabilities of communication, readability e visual impact, both for people normal as for people with some type of deficiency perceptual, in the field of the design graphic and the typography.

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

Research Group of physics applied to industrial technologies based his research on the application and exploitation of certain physical phenomena in various areas of industrial interest. The lines of research of the Group include both the synthesis and study of materials and preparation and analysis systems diverse as optoelectronic devices and photovoltaic devices, design and applications of aperiodic diffraction lenses, fundamental study of the behavior of materials under extreme conditions and design and implementation of Ultrasonic sensors. Lines of research developed in the Group cover a wide range of engineering applications ranging from the synthesis of semiconductor materials for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications, application of Diffractive optics, development of Ultrasonic sensors and behaviour of materials under extreme conditions.

Group of hybrid microelectronics

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP:

The Group of hybrid microelectronics belongs to the Institute of Molecular chemistry and technological development. Its main lines of research focus on the development of system of detection, sensing and actuation, highlighting the line of electronic languages for detection and classification of compounds in liquids and solids, the line of electronic noses for the detection and classification of volatile, the line of development of system of measurement, line of development of sensors based on different printing technologies.
